Each year, the Connecticut Department of Public Health’s Newborn Screening Program identifies more than 2,100 infants with a potential genetic disorder or permanent congenital hearing loss.

Newborn Screening in Connecticut features Connecticut’s foremost experts on newborn screening disorders.

 

·       Objectives:  After completing this program, participants will understand the:

1.   different categories of disorders included in the Connecticut Newborn Screen Program.

2.   process for diagnostic testing and confirmation of a screen positive child.

3.   channels of communication between the medical home, DPH and clinical specialists.

4.   appropriate medical and psychosocial care of children with disorders identified by the Connecticut Newborn  Screening Program.
